Sarah Palin Occupies Wall Street

The Occupy Wall Street movement has been spreading around the United States.  In essence, the people marching on the streets are angry over different issues.  Some are angry about the lack of jobs.  Others are upset over the current tax rate system.  Still others are angry over the additional fees that the banks are charging their customers.  I believe the most broad casted fee is $5 from US Bank just to carry a debit card.

Last week Sarah Palin announced that she would not be running for President in 2012.  She has traveled across the United States in her bus, mostly hanging out in the eastern states even though the debates were happening very near where she was talking with people.

The last update I have seen regarding Mrs. Palin is that she is now Occupying Wall Street as seen in this video.

It appears that she has been interviewing people, which confuses me in a sense.  It makes me feel like she is acting like a journalist.  I have to wonder, though, is she simply trying to show that she understands the people?  Is she trying to show that she is flexible in the face of what needs to be done?  Or perhaps she is trying to show the contenders for the 2012 campaign what people are saying out there.  I cannot tell you but I will be interested in seeing how the Occupy Wall Street contributes to the campaign of 2012 and the decisions of Obama.

  1. Since reading your blog last week I have in fact started paying more attention to this OWS thing/movement. I find it quite interesting... I know your blog was not about it, but you mentioned it in your blog and I feel compelled to talk about it. The $5 debit card fee for Bank of America customers.... (and a few other banks.. some only $3)

Here is my opinion on it. I could care less if the bank were to charge their customers to use their debit card. A bank is NOT a public service. It is business that keeps individuals money safe and gives them convenient access.

The government changed the laws on interchange fees for banks and it greatly affected their income. Banks are making less money now from transactions than they are in the past. Banks need to recover their lost income from these transactions, thus the debit card fee.

The fee is not an extra $5 every time you use your debit card. The $5 is once a month. It only charges you that fee if you use the debit card. Personally I would rather pay the $5 to have convenient access to my cash, than to carry cash...

Here is what it boils down to. It is NOT a right to have a FREE debit card. It is a choice if you want to use it. There are plenty of other banks that offer fee free debit cards. National banks have many many more services than smaller community banks. If you are going to use a national bank you are going to have to play by their rules to avoid fees. Just because a bank charges a fee does not make them the demise of America as many people are indicating.

  2. Sarah Palin has her own agenda. She is intelligent but manipulative. She is insightful but can be dense at times too. She sometimes is helpful in bringing to light important topics but we, the general public, are confused by her actions. It is enlightening that she has been spending time on the east coast. Is she trying to capture an audience there when her audience on the west coast has diminshed? Many politicians need to step up and speak plainly. Sarah Palin is one of those politicians.

  3. Honestly, I haven't paid much attention to the Occupy Wall Street Movement. What they are fighting for is noble (in some regards) but stupid in others. Sarah Palin--I am actually surprised she has decided not to run. This interviewing system of hers, showing her one-on-one with the people, is exactly what she would have needed to boost her votes. Therefore, I don't really know what she may want out of all this. Something makes me believe there is a larger purpose behind these interviews, but I do not even want to start thinking about what that may be. Nice, interesting post.

  4. I would like to watch the video but it had been taken down by user. I feel like she has her own agenda. I think it is a good idea for her not to run since she made such a fool of her self last election. i feel like she needs to build her creditablity more before i will trust her with anything so maybe that is what she is trying to do here. Show that she cares about the average american. But it takes more than a few interviews for me to think it isnt just an act
